Papilio cynorta Male - The FW band is wider and more extensive than in any that I've found in Ituri. I'm now doubting that this is P. cynorta. It's significantly smaller, and there a noticeable difference in the FW band. Plus the band in cynorta is of a creamier colour.
Adam Cotton Do you have any particular expertise with this group?

Adam Cotton Do you have any particular expertise with this group? Not especially, but it probably is a variation of P. cynorta. The only similar species is P. plagiatus, and it doesn't look like that species. The hindwing band is too rounded, and the forewing band is complete, except for the apex. In P. plagiatus there is no spot in the space below the forewing spot closest to the apex (in P. cynorta this spot can either be present or absent), and the edges of the hindwing discal band are parallel and almost straight. Adam.

For reference, here's a comparison between a "normal" cynorta (above) and the specimen in question (below).
Looking at them side by side, I'm inclined to agree that it is just a variation... perhaps an underdeveloped specimen?

Belenois theora
Based on location, I believe this may be subspecies ratheo but I'm uncertain what features separate that subspecies from subspecies laeta.
