I have been using spade tipped forcepts to spread wings.
They work ok; however both I am using (Insects 4 sale brand, and another) require what seems too much force to close; I am afraid it make it more likely to damage the wing.
I would like a recommendation for a pair that are easier to close.
I see there are lots for sale around, but does anyone have a recommendation for a specific one?
Thank you.

I use the one collector of stamps use to hold their valuables. They are very smooth and flat, very gentle to grab the wings. I purchased one in stamp collectors shop.

Very good; I will investigate.
What do you think would be better, the spade tip or the round tip (like you have) Showgard ones?

Very good; I will investigate. What do you think would be better, the spade tip or the round tip (like you have) Showgard ones? I am not sure, I like the round one but I never tried other . I suppose spade one should be flat thin as well and I guess they both should work just fine. Why don’t you order both they are inexpensive and you would pay only one shipping. I add here that they are very flexible and not much force has to be use to squeeze them, therefore less risk to damage the wing surface. Don’t order 6” it is too long and more difficult to manipulate around. I got many different forceps but I only use this.

I was able to inspect a showgaurd one last night and will get one! It does require much less force to close than the insects4sale one.

I got a pair of showgard spade tipped forceps... I was able to bend the spades to meet fully with just my fingers... they don't require much pressure to close. It appears to be much better than my other insect forcepts. It looks like a winner! Thanks!

I too use showguard stamp forceps. I picked up mine at "hobby lobby" for $5 a pair. Been using them the last 4-5 years. Excellent for our purposes. Sorry for the late reply. Highly recommended.
