Although I do not use it, I have an account with flicker and they now say you will be able to upload a 1000 photos free (that's how photobuck began at first) and then you have to pay for more space. While this amount is fine for most members for a prolific photographer like me, who likes to photograph all insects including specimens and link historical images, If I used that site, I would fall into the highest paying bracket, I use Imgur and for the time being they are free, I have nearly 10,000 images uploaded on their account. I do firmly believe that the days of free hosting services will soon be over but at least you get a unlimited storage with imgur and apart from a few hick ups they have been quite good. This cannot be said for the service that is photobucket, they were terrible, really awful and then they came in with a huge amount they wanted to link your images. Of course I back up my best photos elsewhere, do not put on your eggs in one basket. I would say, that if you are a regular user of the attachment space here, don't forget to tap the donate button now and again to help Olivier pay the cost of this attachment space on the forum. Thank you.

Flickr is asking only 50USD per year, seems highly reasonable. I fully understand Flickr decision. Flickr was a great social network and since the stupid decision of Photobucket, people are now using Flickr as a picture storage platform only (that's what I do for example).
Free internet doesn't exist because hosting and storage is costful. Some websites are free to visit because they are financed by advertising or donations.
