Congrats to Olivier for acquiring Insectnet site. Out of curiosity if two sister sites will marge into one big insectnet Collector’s Forum ?

Thank you Paul. I don't plan to merge the both websites.

Is there any project I suppose you will not keep two redundant sites

To my mind, while there is a lot of overlap between Insectnet and the ICF, there are differences between them and some of their membership, Insectnet tends to have more posts from US members whereas ICF is more European. Hopefully Olivier will be able to make everyone happy between the two sites.
Adam.

I am just curious It is obvious that they are more redundant than different (i.e. all doubled posts) .... In cost energy POV and evolution of the net, seems obvious that they will not be continued as such as they are today.

That's a good question but for the moment I don't plan to merge the 2 websites, nor the 2 forums.

Why are they redundant -meaning no longer useful or needed, both have a strong International membership.

I think Thierry is using a slightly wrong word in English. I suspect he means that there is no need for both of them (in his opinion) as they duplicate each other. I looked in the thesaurus, and redundant is listed as a synonym of repetitious.

sorry for my poor English, thanks for correcting Adam Posts by Nomad illustres it very well, same subject posted on the two sites .... spirit and interest in the same on the two sites. the difference is historic, insecnet being first with his members (of which probably many doesn't frequent the site anymore). I don't see a problem to transfer all the members on the same site (that will also "clean" the member list).

I have posted links on Insectnet to historic content on this site, since this forum began and not the content. My old historical posts on Insectnet are mainly different content that I have not posted here. You want to transfer all the members to Insectnet, some of who may prefer to stay here and then there is all the valuable content here, what about that! The Insect Collectors Forum is a valuable contribution to Entomology in its own right.

I only "check-in" on Insectnet every 8 or 10 days to see if anything new or interesting has popped up. Otherwise, my switch to this forum of 3 years ago now has been and continues to be ever informative and rewarding --- on a regular basis ! This is why I contribute what I can with various threads that I hope others like too. I wearied of the other forum on several points and needed a fresh start. There are still some good people there; I just wish more of them would move here as I did.

Once again : both the ICF and Insectnet Forum will stay live and strong. I haven't bought Insectnet to close its forum, would be a bad economic decision. Same here : would be an error to close the ICF forum on Collector's Secret. Both forum have a huge organic traffic thanks to its huge content. So don't worry, as long as I am the owner of these 2 nice forums, they won't close. And I plan to do it for at least the next 30 years (if I don't die in a Papuan jungle in the meantime) .
