Depending on your economic standing, you might throw away (let’s say) a pie if you had discovered one cockroach on it. Certainly, if there were a bunch of them, unless you were starving, you would throw away the pie. But what about ants? Ants aren’t as repulsive as roaches. But how pathogenic are they? If you see an ant or two on your doughnut, do you start your diet?

Some people would not care. Ants and donuts recipe. I never heard of ants transmitting disease, Cockroaches yes.

The ex-pats here have a saying that insects are just an extra source of protein for your diet. If we worried about a few ants in the sugar, or weevils in the beans, we wouldn't have anything to eat.
