I am completely new to this hobby, having just started this summer, and I can safely say that I am glad I started this hobby at the beginning of summer! I spent almost every day outside colecting in rivers and streams on lunch break, after work and on weekends. I got extremely addicted to it, as well as blacklighting for moths at night. I learned a lot as I went, and some of my specimens suffered a bit for my beginner mistakes (leaving them out to dry on a bookshelf, having some suffer very minor dermestid damage, which I was lucky it was mostly minor).
Here is my lepidoptera box, all specimens that I caught myself here in upstate NY (with the exception of the Eacles imperialis and the three Estigmene acrea moths, those being caught by myself in MD). The glass on the box is UV glass so no worries there!
Anyway, as the summer winds down, I am hanging up my net and calling it a season. I had a lot of fun, and I can't wait for next year to start agaain and collect even more! I hope you like my collection! I am very proud of it and can't wait for it to grow!
