Hi everyone, Next week I'm receiving pupae of A. maenas and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on breeding this species. I have some breeding experience, most recently with A. lachesis in large quantity. Below are a few questions I had. - What kind of flight cage is required and how big? Is a large cardboard box ok, like for A. atlas or do they require a little more care? I was thinking of using two large boxes put together with an opening for light and fresh air. One side I would cover with cloth so the moths have somewhere to hold on to. - Does this species need the foodplant to lay eggs on or do they drop them anywhere? - How much do caterpilars eat? This is just to estimate howmany larvae I can breed on the available foodplant without getting into trouble. Is it like with A. lachesis and A. atlas which eat enormous amounts or less compared to these? The trees are about 5 meters high with a lot of leaves so I think there is enough for about 300. If successfull, I'll post some pictures of the breeding. I tried showing a few pictures of our A. lachesis breeding but only figured out to upload one image, the rest can be found on FB (look for Exotic Insects). Last month we had about 500 of them emerging. This cycle only about 200-300 because the foodplants haven't fully recovered and the leaves are still a little small. Any advice on the A. maenas would be much appreciated. Best regards, Benny
