This is the first follow up report that I've heard of since the topic was brought up some months ago here on the forum. I personally think this bum should be made an example of what happens when an obsessive, scheming, compulsive lying individual gets caught doing something so arrogant and unconcerning. Give em' six months away to think about it and than swift kick him in the keester with a stiff fine that he won't forget ! That should give fair warning to any other would be eccentric's that laws governing such things are not to be ignored and the perimeters of nature reserves are to be respected. It took a Herculean effort to return the species to some of its once former haunts. It may only be one battle won in a war of attrition (of other lost species) but, it is a step in the right direction.

The thing is this could have grave repercussions for all working entomologists in Britain now, the great and the good will be calling for a carpet ban on the collecting of all British lepidoptera, glad I switched to moths as they don't care (at the moment) about "little brown jobs"

Funny thing is that "they" will probably never care about the "little brown jobs". Moths are seldom considered pretty by "John Q. Public" and most people take little notice of them since moths are creatures of the night (humans are not by choice). Butterflies are also forever synonymous with beautiful blooming flowers which humans generally appreciate for their colors and scents. This is despite the fact that we as lepidopterists know about half the butterflies out there rather prefer a mud puddle, rotting fruit, or the excrement of other creatures over a visit to some flowers.

The reasoning of conservationists in this country is very seldom based on fact, more often hysteria, with their extreme liberal, bigoted views, this idiot with his shrimping net has opened up a real can of worms. One "informed" lady commented that a lot of people had worked very hard bringing this species back from the brink of extinction which would be a real trick seeing as it went extinct in 1979, but such ignorant people have a voice now, this silly man has seen to that.

Moths apart from many of the the genus Noctuidae are rarely little brown jobs, many are as brightly coloured as butterflies. However I agree this may be the publics' conception of them.
