Conopidae Diptera. The Diptera of the Conopidae are strange indeed, with their curved abdomens and with their large bubble like heads with large eyes, two species are shown here and were photographed in the UK in 2016. Conops flavipes is a local wasp mimic and was found in a forest where the larvae are are internal parasites of bumblebees. Sicus ferrugineus is a fairly common species and is found in meadows and along hedgerows, like the former the larvae are endoparasites of Bombus bumblebees. Conops flavipes Sicus ferrugineus
