Her is my first attempt at a goofy video to demonstrate my technique for building the Cornell Drawer Kits from BioQuip.
Hope it helps you!

I don't understand the reason to buy drawer kits from Bioquip as it is cheaper to buy and ship to America very good quality drawers which are much more airtight, have a better appearance, lighter, made of better wood and have more practical size from Poland or Czech Republic.

Yes! Please tell us where we can purchase Cornell drawers cheaper than these kits! I'm all for saving money. I purchased 6 from a guy in Canada and they were not very well built. 2 came broken in the shipping box. They were cheaper though! Haha!!!

Steve I don't have contact in Czech Republic only know ento sphinx from internet but never order there. I know 3 companies located in Poland.
Matt In Europe no one uses Cornell drawers . There are different sizes which I found more practical 50x40x6cm, they can be stucked I believe 9 in same cabinet size than 6 cornells , space savers. Also the closing system is different which makes them airtight . For example I buy high quality drawer made of meranti wood for $29.50 US per unit including shipping to Canada. Bioquip Cornell kit unit $26.00 US + glass $5.00+ shipping=$35.00 US + labour ,end product not so good. I have 12 cornells ( which I will be selling soon ) pre made in Bioquip and they are still far behind European once. Paul

I like how the drawers you describe save space. I would love to be able to fit more drawers into the area I have available. I only have Cornell Drawers, so I guess I'll plan on just sticking with them.

I understand, I don't like to have too many different styles either, luckily I only have 12 cornells so it will be easy to convert to all one size Euro style for me. PS. It is a pity , Bioquip could use euro style closing in the Cornell size drawers and make them airtight, but it is a bit more time consuming process to make them fit properly.

I use California Academy drawers (from BioQuip also) since 7 fit into the cabinet space of 6 Cornell drawers. The Polish units certainly sound nice, although I can't really switch sizes. I need interchangeability with any drawer so that I can insert new drawers between old ones when needed for expansion.

Yes, for collectors who already have hundreds of drawers there is no point to switch, however I posted this information for new collectors living in North America who are looking for alternatives. I always buy my my drawers from Entomology Meier in Munich: www.ento-meier.de They are one of the biggest manufacturers of drawers in Germany still left I think. Their quality is really amazing, completely airtight, fantastic precision. And their 41x52x6 cm drawers are 32 euros, with the dollar euro exchange rate it should be interesting for Americans right now. I think in Czech drawers could be 25 euros with the same quality but never tried one of these suppliers. Of course if you talk to our fellow English collectors they don't like these drawers so much and prefer the very thin English drawers.

A few years ago I switched to drawers from Meier as well and can highly recommend them They are a little more expensive but the quality is much better than any other drawer I have used in the past. More sturdy, made from better quality wood, airtight, great precision, ...
They have something called poroprint which has a raster printed on the foam.
Not sure if it would be cost effective to send them to the US but if you are looking for quality they are certainly worth checking out. , Benny

Wow, Meier drawers look really nice, but it is too late for me. I have too many Cornell drawers. I also use the white insect boxes that go into the drawers to separate out my species, at this point it is impossible to change my system. I also have about 50 homemade drawers in cabinets that about just slightly larger than Cornell drawers. A product of being poor, I built them in my father's woodshop to house my collection. They actually work very well.
