Dear friends A big news for insect collectors and sellers ! Collector's Secret launch its own marketplace to fight against ebay fees (10%) and lack of entomological knowledge (fake specimens, illegal stuff). On www.insect-deal.com, you can buy and sell your specimens. On www.insect-deal.com : - all sellers are verified, - no CITES species without permit, - no fake and so on, - only 4% fees for sellers (vs 10% on ebay) and these fees will help pay for the ICF hosting fees. - payment via paypal Already 20 international sellers interested in this battle against ebay fees have joined Insect-Deal and listed around 500 items before the launch. Have a look, there are some huge rarities ( Papilio lampsacus, Agrias new ssp, Papilio aberrations, rare Delias...) and some splendid insects at good prices (cheap Cirrochroa imperatrix, 1 USD Agrias, Far East Nymphalidae) and even some decoration objects which can be good ideas for Christmas. And now the last news : t his is a advance notice to ICF members ! It will be announced to all collectors tomorrow, so have a look today and don't miss some unique specimens. It has been a 6-month huge work to try and bench ebay user experience, many sellers have helped me improve the website especially Jens Jakusch from Aureus butterflies who I thank a lot for his help. I hope you will like this new place for insect collectors which will help our forum to be sustainable on the long run Cheers Olivier

I think you should put separate categories for beetles and butterflies(and maybe a "other" category for the rest if you dont want too many specific categories). If you're interessted only in butterflies you dont want to have to scroll through lots of adds for beetles and vice versa. Also nice ripoff of the ebay logo, maybe try and be more creative? Other than that im sure sellers aswell as buyers will find it useful!

Congrats for the splendid stuff you have purchased from my friend Michael Yeh : oxdelphis2
He has fantastic insects from Malaysia for sale and some very low prices. I often buy nice Delias from him, his collecting data are always accurate !

I started to look at it but lost interest after a couple of pages due to having to scroll through pages of beetles to find the Lepidoptera. Could you not select by family/genus like you do on the Collectors' Secret site? Bob

Olivier has just informed me I was the first buyer on Insect-deal, from a very reliable seller whom I've dealt with before through eBay before, oxdelphis (Michael has quality at good prices), so the first trickle of funds have started to a great forum.
i agree we need to separate a little, but if the genus is in the title listing you should be able to search for species name etc and weed out what you don't want, assuming we don't allow listings with Butterfly, moth, beetle, spider etc etc in the titles as we get on eBay.
i know it widens the audience but it also irritates the serious buyers.
I'm also hoping not to be getting a message saying the "you missed out on the Papilio xanthopleura female you were watching but here's a beaten up crap little common beetle you might be interested in" really, nothing like what I was watching.
ebayers know what I'm talking about!

Is it possible to change a username on Insect-deal? I would like to change mine.
Thanks and great idea! Also is there a requirement to be added to the collectors secret recommended ebay sellers list?

Yes, just PM me which username you want and I should be able to change it for you. Also PM me a link towards your ebay account. Cheers Olivier

I have two searches saved so far, just type in what you're looking for in the search bar and the search will reveal them (assuming the search word is used in the listing title) then save search (you need to be logged in to save search) my two searches Butterflies and Papilio are completely beetle free, nothing against you beetle guys, I'm sure you don't want to scroll through loads of butterflies and moths either.

Good to know that entomological books sell well on Insect Deal.
I will also sell some nice books that I don't use anymore, it will give them a second life and pay for some Delias.
Thank you Jan for selling them on Insect-Deal
