Leptura quadrifasciata Linnaeus, 1758. This attractive Longhorn species is widely distributed but local in the UK. The larvae develop in dead or decaying wood, especially in the lower parts of standing trees. The first specimen was found resting on birch leaves in Savernake Forest, the second was observed visiting Dogwood flowers ( Cornus sanguinea) by a hedgerow on the edge of a lowland meadow; the latter example from the marks on its Elytra looks like it has perhaps sustained an attack? Savernake Forest, Wiltshire June 2016. Meadow hedgerow, Coate, Swindon, Wiltshire July 2016. Leptura quadrifasciata

Only saw one at Sweden when I was a teenager, I never saw again this species that is too rare in my warm and dry country.
